MACHINE GIRL

is an electronic duo made up of Matthew Stephenson
[ . producer | brains . ] and Sean Kelly
[ . drummer | co-producer . ]

they are best known for their works such as WLFGRL, U-Void Synthesizer, The Ugly Art, and much more.

WLFGRL is by far their most well known album, containing sounds full of ecastic footwork, fast breaks, and unique samples, from obscure Japenese folk music to Tyler, the Creator.

The Ugly Art is their most contrasting album compared to all of their previous works. It is still fundamentally electronic, but now takes influence from hardcore, punk, and digital hardcore to achieve a harsh, in your face sound that

MACHINE GIRL VS MACHINE GIRL

released November 29th, 2016
4 Track EP
[ only on Bandcamp ]

Machine Girl has a lot of music not available on streaming services. this EP has got to be without a doubt one of my favorites in that classification. there is a colorful blend of tracks that range from techno, vaporwave, breakbeat/jungle, and whatever the hell the last track is >:D

Mrk90 Mix, Vol.1

released December 16th, 2017
Side A and B Mix of Original Remixes and Tracks

In my opinion this is probably their best project they've ever released. I absolutely adore the remixes and B side tracks I hear on this project. It's basically a DJ mix with only their own original music and remixes and i think that it's insane how deep Machine Girl's discography goes. bangers from start to finish.

Gemini

released July 28th, 2015
14 Track LP

"a love letter to vaporwave". This LP is one of their more unique works, filled with bright synths and heavily syncopated footwork rhythms. I think my favorite part about this LP is the song titles. I think they are very cool and unique and they add to the dreamy feel of the album. Every track on bandcamp has their own unique cover art too which i think is fucking awesome.

13 Track LP

Every Machine Girl fan starts here. By far their most inconic and well known album filled with famous tracks such as Ghost, Frenesi, and Krystle. This LP is an internet classic. while it's not my favorite, i think they have better works later on, i still enjoy to come back every now and then to relieve memories. despite all of that, it has my absolute number one favorite MG song of all time.

U-Void Synthesizer

released Febraury 27th, 2020
11 Track LP

i have to admit something here, i actually really didnt like a lot of Machine Girl songs and albums on first playthrough. it took me a while to grow to love their work. this LP is no exception. it's loud, brash, ugly, and radical. in my opinion this LP takes elements of their hardcore side and their electronic side and blends the two together in a mostly seemless way.

...BECAUSE IM YOUNG ARROGANT AND HATE EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR

released Semptember 22nd, 2017

this has my favorite album art. i mean there's just so many references in that fucking thing. the black ops 2 B23R is my favorite touch. this album feels like you're getting a labotomy from start to finish and i dont know if thats a good or bad thing. this LP is probably one of the more difficult ones to learn to love, since the lyrics to some of the tracks are a little dated (in a cringy kinda way), but i still love it all the same.

The Ugly Art

released October 12th, 2018
16 Track EP

this LP stands out from their discography... a LOT. so much so that i think there IS a split in the fanbase. there are those who love them only for this album and those who ignore it. there are those who like it like any other project (me), but i feel like i see this project ignored in discussion a lot of the time. i still love it, i appreciate the more hardcore/punk approach a lot, and they play a lot of these tracks live, which is always an insane mosh experience let me tell u.
